Code Blue Pilot Season (2016)

The Code Blue Overnight Emergency Warming Center opened as a pilot program with its first season in 2016. During the course of the 11 week long pilot season (January - April), we were able to provide 48 guests (men, women and children), with a warm place to spend the night. With the help of our informed staff, dedicated volunteers, and committed Community Partners, we were able to identify resources for the guests that were available through Phoenixville’s varied community services. Organizations such as Phoenixville HospitalGood Samaritan Shelter, Orion Communities, PACSFellowship Health Resources, Open Hearth, and other service providers came together to support their community and help the guests we served.

Community Partners are important to any new program, and for the pilot season of the Code Blue Center, they were crucial. However, even in its first year, the Code Blue program helped lower costs for local shelters and community service providers by providing the much needed emergency space. The program does not attempt to duplicate services, but intends only to complement existing services.
